Countless times patients and families thank Hutt Hospital and staff for the dedication and high standard of care received. Some take it a little further, and leave a bequest or significant donation to the Hutt Hospital Foundation Trust. One recent example was the family of a local man who in the past had been cared for in the Hutt’s medical ward. On the man’s death the family asked for donations in lieu of flowers and $1,265 was collected and handed on to the Hutt Hospital Foundation Trust. The trust funds an array of equipment, pain management and patient/family support initiatives for which DHB funding is not available. A donation or bequest is a tangible way of thanking the hospital, and ‘passing it forward’ to future patients.
